SSH Telnet
What precisely is SSH? How could you manage a server over SSH?
SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol used to exchange protected data between a client and a website hosting server, making it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any data. Many tech-savvy customers prefer SSH because of the better security level. The connection is created and the commands are delivered through a command line. The accessible options depend on the type of web hosting service - on a shared server, for instance, files may be relocated or deleted, databases may be imported and exported, and archives can be created or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, your choices are a lot more - the web server and the database server could be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software may be installed and more. These things are not possible on a shared server, since full root access is needed and all the other clients on that server would be affected. Although SSH is used predominantly with UNIX-like Operating Systems, there are SSH clients for other OSs as well - Windows, Mac OS, and so on.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
If you have a
cloud hosting account with our company and you'd like to manage your content remotely using SSH, you may get SSH access to the account using your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package deal does not provide this feature as standard, you could add it with a couple of mouse clicks from the Upgrades menu. Within the SSH section of the CP, you will see the host, the port number and the username that you need to use when you connect to the account. You may also choose what password you want to use, since it does not have to be the same as the one for your account. We've prepared many Help articles in which you can find all the commands you will be able to use with a shared hosting package, plus examples of how they're used. Also, if SSH access is allowed for your account, you will be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection via a standard client such as FileZilla, for example.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our
semi-dedicated server accounts offer the possibility to access and control them through SSH. If the package deal which you have chosen incorporates this feature by default, you simply have to activate the SSH access feature via the corresponding section of the Hepsia Control Panel. If the function is listed as an optional upgrade, you may quickly add it via the Add Services/Upgrades link inside the Hepsia Control Panel and it'll be available within a minute. We have a number of help articles and educational videos about the use of SSH commands to handle your account and an entire list of the commands which you can carry out together with numerous examples to provide you with a better idea of what you can do. If SSH is active, you shall also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload data securely via any FTP application that supports the feature.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
You shall be able to use SSH to handle your content regardless which
VPS plans you select when you sign up, since all our packages include this function by default. You won't need to include or activate anything by hand - the instant your server is prepared and you get the Welcome e-mail with the login credentials, you can connect and start working on your websites or any software that you want to install and run on the hosting server. You'll have root-level access to the VPS and because the account will be isolated from all the other accounts inside the physical server, you shall be able to do anything you need with no restrictions. You can install any application you need and which will work on a Linux-based web server, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and handle your files and databases efficiently.
