Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is intended to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email, but to appear as being sent from another one, usually with the idea to fraud the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a special record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers worldwide have it. The record includes all of the email servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an address part of the domain. When a message is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target destination. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it will be discarded. In the event that you employ this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam messages that seem to have been sent from you.
SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting
If you host your domains in a cloud hosting account with us and we manage the emails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for them with a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in a section of its own where you will be able to view which domains are already secured. For the ones which aren't, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection option and configure various things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and to set a rule that messages can be sent only when your domain names use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, but it can be used in the event that we take care of the e-mails for your domains and do not use another e-mail service provider. The new records will propagate within a day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message with your email addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
The SPF protection function is available with all semi-dedicated hosting plans, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to use the service easily for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a rather easy to work with interface, which means that you don't need to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your emails. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send emails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be active for the domain that you've picked. As an additional option, we will also allow you to limit your outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes even further by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain involved features our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name need to be taken care of here and not by some other provider. In this way you will enjoy even better control and there will not be any chance for any person to fake your emails for harmful uses.
